Apart from these courses, a commerce student can also follow disciplines which fall outside the traditional zone that is considered to be for commerce. These include:

  • Journalism and Mass Communication
  • Hotel Management
  • Event Management
  • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)
  • BA LLB (Law)

These are all extremely good options for a commerce student to explore as the demand in these areas has increased a lot over the last decade. Another recent trend has been to initiate startups. These include e-commerce sites, online music sites, e-wallets, and other such services. Many commerce students are now choosing this option as a way to quickly grow in the field of commerce.

In the end, make your decision wisely and do your own SWOT analysis. Don’t simply choose a field just because your friends are choosing it. Someone has wisely said, ‘’Making better choices takes work. There is a daily give and take, but it is worth the effort.’’

    • Thanks. Yes you’re right about that. However, I reckon that DU allows a person to pursue CA along with undergrad course such as B.Com (Hons) making it a 4-year program. Similarly, IP Univ and School of Open Learning have this facility. At the time of writing of this blog there was still some confusion over whether DU will keep it or scrap it. Thus, I included in the same context. Anyhow, appreciate your pointing that out.
